Job Description and Duties

In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.

This classification is authorized to receive a starting salary rate of $$9,022 under Pay Scales Section 5.

THERE IS TWO VACANCIES BEING ADVERTISED ACROSS MULTIPLE COUNTIES. THE INCUMBENT WILL BE HEADQUARTERED IN THE COUNTY NEAREST THE RESIDENCE OF THE SELECTED CANDIDATE. THE COUNTIES ARE: Butte, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Orange, Riverside, Sonoma, Sacramento, San Joaquin, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Ventura, and Los Angeles.

Incumbents appointed to this classification shall receive the maximum of the pay range, as well as a recruitment and retention pay differential of $200/month.

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by performing independent review of completed state and federal surveys and long-term care complainant appeal investigations. Conducts review of entity reports, surveys, and investigations as needed for oversight of home health agencies and intermediate care facilities for the developmentally disabled participating in Medi-Cal waiver programs. The geographic assignment encompasses the entire state of California. Travel is required.

The incumbent works under the direction of the Health Facilities Evaluator Manager I (HFEM I).Teleworking may be available for this position, in accordance with CDPH’s Telework Policy and Procedures.
